A few weeks ago I made the trip back to Tony's Roof in the Gray Havens with Bobby, Kenzie and Andrew. I managed to get a (potentially single-digit) ascent of this roof.
Tony's Roof
Video is below, thanks to Bobby filming.
In reference to Priest Draw roofs, Tony's Roof is in between the Bad Ass Roof and Anorexic Roof in terms of size, but the style remains very similar to Priest Draw (read: dangling). The main difference here is that the roof has colors reminiscent of Cherry Canyon and there's only one line on this roof, unlike the two other roofs, which has multiple lines.
Furthermore, unlike Priest Draw roofs, the beta for this one is much more straightforward. However, what we trade off in complexity is replaced with much more brute force and thuggy movement with front-lever like moves. The crux of this one revolves around a hand-foot match toe-cam that leads into easier climbing with a nice topout. In my opinion, this one is worth repeating and is a good introduction to some non Priest Draw roofs. I'm looking forward to getting on a few more throughout the season, especially now since temperatures are finally lowering...
Finally, a few other pictures of Bobby, Kenzie, and Andrew on this roof.
Andrew getting the party started
Bobby hitting the first crux move right off the bat. Kenzie with the footage. Who's filming Bobby?
Me in the middle of the crux with a double toe cam
